Weekly testing of an old 50Hp HOR air raid siren from the fifties in Holyoke MA. Note the water spouting out of the choppers due to all the rain last night. test went good but longer than usual when it only runs for about a minute.

@CL137626 I never heard them do attack mode. I think they just have it wired straight to a timer. I highly doubt there’s? a control box of any sort. If this thing did attack mode, I’d have a heart attack every time it went off. That would sound pretty spooky.

Russia still flies it’s nuclear bombers along the UK coast, unannounced. There were around 30 flights last year, each requiring the RAF to scramble and fly alongside them,? as per protocol. They’re not bombing anything, it’s just a show & reminder. Timed with the denial of their weapons sales to the East. But this is test is just for historical purpose.

They have things like this around Sellafield I think, to warn if there’s a major problem? with the reactors – which also breed plutonium. There’s an automatic phone call for the locals too. Chatting with the technicians up there is fun stuff.
